I just purchased an unlocked Verizon Samsung Galaxy S10+ on ebay. The phone works great. I'm currently using an AT&T sim card with this phone. The problem is that every time I power on the phone or restart it, I receive a message that 'Sim card is not from Verizon'. I have tried various Youtube fixes to disable 'Sim card not from Verizon' message but the message keeps coming back after every reboot. It's really annoying! Is there a way to remove 'Sim card is not from Verizon' permanently? "
My response:
I've done quite a bit of research on this subject and I'll discuss my findings below. Please note that these instructions below are for Android only, do not require root access, but will require a $2.00 app purchase in order to make it work - which is well worth the price in my opinion. I've only tested this on Android Pie (version 9) operating system, but I'm certain it will work for previous versions such as Marshmallow (version 6), Nougat (version 7), Oreo (version 8), etc.
How to Fix: Remove 'Sim card is not from Verizon' Permanently (Android)
After speaking with Sam, the only solution that worked to remove the 'Sim card is not from Verizon' message permanently was to use an app called AutoNotification via Google Play. It's my understanding that the AutoNotification app works by intercepting notifications on Android's task bar and can be programmed to personalize the messages, or, in Sam's case, make the notifications disappear altogether.
Note that the AutoNotification app is part of the 'AutoApps' family. If you want to use AutoNotification to permanently remove the 'Sim card is not from Verizon' message, you will need to purchase AutoNotification app via the 'AutoApps' main app. The cost is $2.00 at time of writing.
Here are the steps:
- Download and install
AutoNotification via Google Play
on your phone.
- Next, swipe down from the top of your phone's screen, and clear all notifications from the Android taskbar
except for the 'Sim card is not from Verizon' message. Note: to clear an app notification, swipe it to the right.
- Now it's time to configure an AutoNotification rule. Launch the app if
you haven't already; near the top of the screen, tap "Notification Blocking".
- Click the Plus (+) icon near the top right of the proceeding screen. It will ask "Do you need help setting up this block filter?" Choose "Yes".
- It will now say "No Notifications. There are no notifications currently ..." tap OK.
- The "Select App" screen will now appear. Type in "setup" in the input field near the top of the screen, then tap
the "Setup Wizard" app when it appears in the list. It is the "Setup Wizard" app that is responsible for sending the 'Sim card is not from Verizon' messages.
- The proceeding screen will say "Setup Wizard - All fields optional". Tap OK.
- You should now see a message stating: "If this blocks any persistent notifications ... you will need to unblock and reboot the phone." Tap OK.
- At this point the 'Sim card is not from Verizon' icon in your Android taskbar should be removed. When you reboot the phone, it will no longer appear. You can use AutoNotification for other notifications you don't want to see in the Android taskbar.
Note: at some point the AutoNotification app will prompt you to purchase it in order to unlock it / keep it working without restrictions. To do that, AutoNotification will tell you to download its main program, called "AutoApps", which it will link to on Google Play. Once AutoApps is installed it will recognize AutoNotification as already being installed. You should then be able to purchase the AutoNotification app for $2.00.

Re: A problem with the autonotification app from auto apps

I have encountered a problem with the autonotification app that you mentioned in the article with the sim card lock notification issue. After downlaoding and launching the app my phone will call out for a few seconds and the 4G LTE and all of the bars will show in the notification bar while it calls out, but after a few seconds the phone stops calling out, hangs up, and everything I mentioned before in the notification bar suddenly disappears. I will continue researching and if all else fails I guess I will have to call verizon again and try to get them to unlock the network, like that ever works, but I was wondering if you knew a magic "fix" for this little problem as well. Thank you for your time.

I suggest you uninstall the AutoNotification app to see if you still have this issue. If you do then it's the app that is causing the problem. Try reinstalling it using the steps I described above, as you may have not done it properly the first time. If you still have issues, then you will have to uninstall the app. I have no issues whatsoever using the AutoNotification app on my Samsung S10+ running Android 9. I have not upgraded to Android 10 because I use another app called Calls Blacklist that blocks scam calls but isn't compatible with Android 10.

Works, but hoping for another alternative
Hi, I am a long time user of AutoNotification and I was aware that would make the notification disappear. I am glad there are people like you who post about these types of real world problems and solutions, because tweaks like this are not generally known, and most of the top search results for this type of notification lead to sites that say "pay us and we'll fix it for you."
I, however, want to be able to resell my device in the future, and not have to tell my buyer to install an app to make the notification go away. On top of that the actual service on the phone that monitors the sim may be continuously draining battery without the notification being visible. Plus there's all the Verizon bloatware that is annoyingly reinstalled after a factory reset. So my search for a solution continues...
By the way
There is a more permanent solution, though a combination of installing Shizuku and IceBox from the Play Store and setting up wireless debugging. This is perfect for me and I set it up on all my devices to disable background processes anyway. But it still doesn't help with reselling my device in the future, I can't ask any random purchaser to go through the hassle of setting that up, especially redoing it if they reset the device.
And for you and anyone else wondering, Verizon was of no help. After multiple calls totalling around 2 hours, they repeatedly tried 'reunlocking' the phone (which I had to borrow an active Verizon sim for them to even be willing to attempt, and for the actual activation text to come through), but the exact same issue remained.
