Woman 'Not Interested' in $10,000 iTunes Prize

A woman has been awarded a $10,000 prize by Apple for downloading the 10 billionth iTunes application. Interestingly, when Gail Davis was called by Apple with the good news, she assumed it was the work of telemarketers and immediately hung up the phone.

"I thought it was a prank call," said Davis, who lives in Orpington, England. Frustrated with what she thought was a joke, Davis snapped "Thank you very much, [but] I'm not interested." (Source: msn.com)

Daughters Responsible for App Download

Davis had good reason to be suspicious. After all, she doesn't even own an iPod capable of downloading iTunes applications. But her daughters, who both own Apple media players, regularly make such downloads, including iTunes' 10 billionth.

Shortly after Davis hung up the phone, both girls riotously proclaimed that the call was no prank and that she needed to call back immediately.

"Tense" Moments in Davis Home

It was hysteria in the Davis home as Gail tried desperately to get back in touch with the Apple caller. "The more I thought about it, the more I realized it was a genuine call," she said, thinking back on the anxious moments before the Davis' reached a useful Apple agent.

Happily, Davis did get in contact with an Apple representative who assured them they would still be receiving the award.

Somewhat sadly, the prize is not $10,000 cash, but an iTunes gift card. So, there won't be a new car or RV in the Davis driveway, just one heck of a pile of apps and music downloads.
