Color Coded HTML Text Editor (Freeware)?
Recall --
Last week I asked Infopackets Readers for a freeware color-coded Text Editor capable of editing certain file types (such as HTML documents with JavaScript embedded).
Infopackets Reader Keith B. writes:
" I use Notepad2. It's much better than the standard Windows Notepad, and I use it for editing pages on my own web site. From the web site: 'The original Notepad shipped with Windows is probably the handiest program of all times, small, fast, without frills! Notepad2 tries to follow this principle, it's a small, fast and free text editor with syntax highlighting for HTML and other common languages.' "

Reader Craig W. writes:
" I use 1st Page 2000. From the web site '1st Page 2000 is a professional HTML editing software which lets you create great websites fast! The visually appealing program comes bundled with over 450+ JavaScript's and supports all the latest web languages. Over 3+ million downloads!' "

Side note: Your virus scanner may identify Js.Trojan.WindowBomb present in 1st Page 2000. No need to worry -- it's a Java-script example (called 'Six Buttons From Hell') and is separate from 1st Page. You can delete the script without harm to the software; by itself, it poses no threat. And, Dennis J. writes:
" For editing web page code, I have used Arachnophilia for three or four years. It does some auto-formatting, and 'understands' various programming languages. It can be downloaded from arachnoid.com and is freeware. "

Infopackets Reader Richard E. writes
" [With respect to your original article], I believe I know what 'JavaClock' your Reader is referring to. It's called the 'Amazing Clock'. If you want to see it in action, here is the link from my home page (you can also extract the code using View -> Source in Internet Explorer). "
