Microsoft Streams Madonna Concert for Free
Madonna is going online tonight and fans can catch all of her sexy moves for free. That's right, the Material Girl's concert at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City will be webcast live on music.msn.com/madonna starting at 10 PM ET for US viewers. (Source: microsoft.com)
International audiences will have to wait until May 15 when the concert will be available on-demand. However, select countries around the world will also be given the opportunity to view the live concert.
Vodafone, one of the world's leading mobile carriers, will sponsor the webstream for their customers in Cyprus, Egypt, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Portugal, Romania, South Africa, Spain, and the UK. Fans in these countries can choose between watching the concert on their mobile phones or through Vodafone's website. (Source: vodafone.com)
In addition, Vodafone customers can choose from a variety of camera angles and will be able to chat online with others about the concert.
The Roseland performance is a free concert to celebrate the release of Madonna's new CD 'Hard Candy.' Last night, die-hard fans began lining up for the show, and tickets are to be distributed at 6 am this morning.
Production of the webstream is being managed by Microsoft's partner Control Room, the company responsible for distributing the Live Earth events last year.
Tonight's concert has the potential to attract one of the largest viewing audiences ever. However, despite the attractiveness of a free performance, the biggest hurdle will be getting people to turn off their TVs and log on for what is sure to be a several hour performance.
